My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Starla is a 3.5 year old lab mix. She is a stout girl at nearly 80lbs. Her owner unfortunately was unable to care for her after being placed in a hospice situation. So Starla found herself alone in a yard, where people were feeding her. She is an inside/outside dog. She seems to enjoy her crate at night and also when we are leaving for an extended period. She seems anxious when we are leaving, but I don’t blame her as she probably wonders if we are leaving her too. She does settle down. However, she wants to be out and with her family/people when possible. She definitely loves kisses and thinks that she is a lap dog. She rides well in the car, enjoys trips to Petsmart where she seems to enjoy meeting other dogs. Not sure around cats, we’ve not encountered them, however, she seems to be pretty well natured. She needs some basic training as far as walking on the leash and reminded not to jump on furniture, she is so big and strong and at times will pull if not reminded not to. She is housetrained and will whine and scratch at door to go out. I’ve seen no signs of aggression from her. She is just a big girl that needs to be in the mix of everything. Although she is kid friendly, she has no problem trying to sit in their lap, which in our house creates a problem with the 4 year old. She will bark at people walking outside, but warms up to people once she knows that they are okay. She does warm up quickly, and when she does, she will not leave you alone…she shoves your hand with her face to get attention. She is fully vetted and has been on heartworm preventative. I have all of her vet records. If you are looking for a chunky love bug, Starla is your girl. With a little obedience and love she will be a great dog for an active family.

Starla is a courtesy posting and is not offered for adoption by You Lucky Dog Rescue. YLDR explicitly disclaims any liability for any situation arising from the private adoption of this individual animal. If you are interested call Regina at 678-780-7865 or email rmansfield@gainesville.org.
