My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think that they're homeless in rural Girard, Georgia. A giving and kind rescuer temporarily took Echo and his siblings in to prevent them from the horrors of a high-kill Georgia shelter. Farfel's was contacted about the great personalities and over- the- top cuteness of these special puppies and couldn't turn away. They deserve great homes and loving guardians just as much as any sweet puppy with a great temperament.

Echo, at just 5 - 6 months old and about 7 lbs (we'll update exact weight as soon as we're given vet records), was facing the possible end of his life before it ever began. ...he was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet and engaging long-haired Dachshund/Cocker Spaniel mix (an up and coming new designer breed that's loved for it's super-soft coat and engaging personalities) is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with the gorgeous, shining and cottony-soft coat that speaks of his breed mix.

Echo is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart and very engaging...so typical of this breed mix. He's also bright and so loving (loves to cuddle in your lap-but watch out..puppy energy calls). Echo clearly has no memory of his scary start. Since Echo is such a young guy, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. He will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through being exposed to many different situations out in the world as well as positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the outside world with appropriate behavior.

We're open to Echo finding his forever home with an active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Echo is great with children and other dogs as well. We would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen.

Echo is up to date on his vetting. We're hoping that he will be neutered when he arrives from Georgia, however a puppy like Echo is often deemed too young to fix. If this is the case, Farfel's will cover all costs for Echo to be neutered and micro chipped at our vet in Denver to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Echo will be arriving on transport in Denver on 6/7/15. If interested in this beautiful and very fun companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
