Andy was rescued from a high-kill shelter in North Carolina and would not have made it out alive. But how could you not fall in love with this little bob-tailed Beagle, who was probably born without a tail. Thanks to the donations from the wonderful supporters of Double Dog Rescue, Andy has been professionally treated for his heartworms and after four months is completely heartworm negative, and positively healthy. Now Andy is going to get the forever home he deserves!
Andy loves playing with his newest rescue sibling, a sweet little Min Pin, and they play ALL the time. Truly, Andy gets along with all of his rescue friends, cats included! He loves going for walks on the farm and also loves to lie in the little swimming pool on the deck. Andy does just fine on a leash, which is very important when walking outside our fenced-in yard. Andy is crate trained and housetrained, too! Andy is not hyper at all, but is very curious about everything going on around him and we love that about him!
We love Andy and wish for him a fantastic new life!!!

Unless otherwise indicated, all Double Dog Rescue dogs have received the following before being available for adoption:
Thorough veterinary examination
All routine annual vaccinations, including Rabies, DHLPP, Bordatella (kkennel cough), Heartworm Test, Fecal Test, Deworming
Spay/Neuter
All dogs are quarantined for two weeks outside of the shelter (puppies four weeks) to ensure they don't break with disease.
If any dog shows any signs of disease or ailment, DDR vets the dog until he or she has a clean bill of health to the best of our knowledge. This includes anything from being treated for Heartworm, Broken Leg, Cherry Eye, Torn ACL, Upper Respiratory etc.)
NOTE: Dogs who were treated for Heartworm can test positive up to 4-6 months after last treatment. All dogs are immediately put on Heartguard/Ivermectin following the treatment to kill the Heartworm larvae. All dogs should be re-tested after 4 months from the last Heartworm treatment.
