Nitro was rescued from a crowded shelter with little time left. Our first impression of him was that he was a high energy dog and would need special handling but that soon changed. After his initial excitement at being rescued from the shelter we saw that he was ready to follow the lead of his human handlers and be a well behaved dog. Nitro is smart! Update January 2016: Nitro has been doing great at our trainer/boarding home. They report that he is very eager to learn and is a fast learner. He loves playing tug-o-toy and fetching balls. He is treat motivated very athletic strong and smart. Update September 2016: Nitro's current foster home reports that Nitro is a very well behaved and gentle dog. He is house trained and very well behaved. He is very good on a walks or jogs and is eager to go when his foster picks up his leash. Nitro is good when meeting other dogs but sometimes needs a quick reminder to calm if he gets too excited. He sleeps all night and will be calm during the day but he's always ready to play ball or go for a brisk walk. He tolerates a bath well loves to be groomed performs simple tasks for a treat and doesn't guard his food. He loves to chew on his toys and chews. He is fine being left home alone for about four hours with a safe chew (bully stick). Nitro will alert bark only when he senses a threat such as strange noises outside or a knock on the door. Noise from cars trucks lawnmowers fireworks and vacuum cleaners do not bother him but he enjoys howling when sirens pass by. Nitro has not had much exposure to children but has done well with those that he has met. Due to his strength and size kids 10 years and up with dog experience. Nitro needs a experienced guardian (a plus with this his breed type) who will give him plenty of daily exercise and fun activity (fetch training fun dog sport). Nitro wants to be your loyal best friend and forever family member. He is a super great dog and we all love him!
