My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Poor Pepper came into a high-kill Kansas shelter so matted that it was difficult for her to be her sweet and engaging self. Pepper had been rescued from a cruelty situation in Kansas (along with her brother Tanner) where her treatment was unspeakable. It fulfilled the horror of all the stories we've ever heard about backyard breeding with disregard that these are living and feeling beings. The most amazing part of all is that Pepper (as well as Tanner) show no signs of the depression and fear of a typical puppy mill dog. She's happy, very friendly and shows her love for humans and other dogs with very appropriate and sweet behavior. Somewhere along the line, Pepper must have had love and respect. She has surprisingly well- developed socialization skills and no defensive behavior has been noted. \r\n\r\nSo this waggy and wonderful Lhasa...with what we believe is a bit of ShihTzu in there..is just waiting to be the most devoted best friend ever. Pepper is also very beautiful. It's very difficult... since she got the shaving of a lifetime (right down to the skin)... to see the gorgeous golds and silvers that run through Pepper's non-shedding coat. With regular baths, grooming and great nutrition, the stunning, flowing Lhasa coat will emerge. Pepper seems very happy with this new haircut...she's suddenly free to run and engage with those around him without any matts hindering her movements.. \r\n\r\nWe picture Pepper in a very loving and committed adult home. We would love a retired couple (or individual) who are at home to provide Pepper with the walks, mental stimulation and hugs on the couch that she (like all dogs) so longs for. Pepper also could do well with older kids (12+) who are gentle yet playful with this very engaging girl. It's not that Pepper can't be with younger children...it's just that their energy and sometimes rough handling of a dog wouldn't work for her on a full-time basis. \r\n\r\nPepper doesn't require tons of exercise but would enjoy walks along paths or trails where she can socialize and breath in the Colorado air. Since this 3-year old, 17 lb pup is still young and inquisitive (such a perfect age...old enough to have left behind babyish behavior and young enough to be open, energetic and filled with fun and love), she would be overjoyed with being out and about frequently with her people. Pepper becomes very devoted and loving with her family...she's also so portable that it's easy to bring her along to any destination. She's always so pleasant and entertaining and very fun to be with. We have heard Pepper appropriately called a Lap Dog Extraordinaire!\r\n\r\nWe have requested that Pepper be spayed prior to transport. However, if that does not occur, Farfel's will cover all costs to have Pepper spayed and microchipped at SpayToday in Lakewood after she arrives. Pepper will arrive on transport in Denver on Tuesday 6/2/15..
