Ella's Story...
AARF only adopts in Richmond, Virginia and the surrounding area.

Ella is a very sweet Shepherd mix born in March. She loves to please her people. She does well with children and is curious about cats but only wants to play with them. She has lots of puppy energy so a dog that has lots of play drive would be a good match for her, or even as an only dog. She is working on her house manners like any puppy. She likes food a lot but has not been allowed anything but puppy food and training treats. She knows sit, lay, and is working on wait for food. She has not shown any food aggression at all, we can put our hands in her bowl while she eats, pet her, and take her food away with no issues. She wants to play with her foster pups, but is a little too playful for 10 year old and 8 year old dogs. We are working daily on walking on a leash and meeting other dogs and people along the way. She does really well and loves people. She is a very smart girl and loves to cuddle after playing ball in the yard or a nice long walk.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ella, a Richmond German Shepherd Dog puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Richmond, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog puppy from a breeder in Richmond.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Richmond already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Richmond breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Richmond paves the way for another one to be saved.
