Hi!
My name is Ida. I’m known as “Ida Mae”.
I am a female, 6 months old, black Great Dane.
I will be available between late June and early July, after I’m all vaccinated and spayed.
I am a special needs because I am a growing puppy who is in the process of basic training.
My wonderful foster momma wants to tell you things about me….
Ida Mae is a sweet 6 month puppy. She is a joy and wonderful puppy to have around. Now don't be fooled by that sweet face of hers. She is a puppy which means she is in need of constant training and guidance.
To start with Ida is very nervous and skittish around new people and large groups of people. She has low confidence so not trusting herself makes her fear what she does not understand yet herself. Once introductions are given in a slow fashion Miss Ida will be your best friend. It is all about getting over that first introduction.
Once Ida realizes that you are meant to be a friend of hers, she will show you exactly what she is made of. At 6 months, Ida is a very independent puppy when it comes to play time. She is quite happy, taking her favorite toy and throwing it around. Or, getting her favorite antler and having a happy time chewing on it.
No, do not be fooled by this...she loves having you get down and play with her. Throwing a toy or just playing fetch will make this girl very happy. Any interaction she gets with you is a major bonus in her book, but if you have to get some work done she will do her best to entertain herself.
I must warn you — She is a puppy and with that, comes the “I will put everything and anything in mouth which means you better make sure I have plenty of toys to distract me!” Meaning, t any given time, she will have 2 to 4 toys. She will go back and forth, which helps keeping her from wanting to chew on your favorite shoes, or that lonely sock. So she is given you permission to spoil her. *smiles*
Ida is learning the routine of potty. As long as you stick to the routine that you put in place, then accidents are few and far between. She will go potty outside 100% of the time as long as you keep up with her schedule. She is crate trained and does not have any accidents in there.
Ida has been introduced to cats, but still doesn't quite understand exactly what they are. She will chase them when they run away, but when they try to go after her, she will run away! No signs of aggression just curiosity and wanting to play with them.
Ida has met children. As stated before, with slow introductions and making sure the children respect Ida's space, she will do just fine. She has meet children from ages 2 to 6 and did wonderful with them.
She is a perfect lady in the crate....once we get her in. I have had to up my treat game to convince her to go in. Ida sleeps in her crate at night and so far she has done wonderful. She has woken us up in the middle of the night for an emergency potty break and afterwards, she sleeps through the night.
