Poco's Story...
Poco is an adorable, male, Terrier/Chihuahua mix. He is 8 months old and is already house trained. He is playful and loves belly rubs. He is spayed and current on all his vaccines. He is friendly, and gets along very well with adults. He also gets along with other dogs when he gets to know them. But when he sees a new dog, he may growl. He only weighs 9 pounds, so the growl may be to let the other dogs knwo not to mess with him.

To find out more about Poco or to get to meet him, call his foster home at (828) 586-5186. One can also meet ARF animals at our weekly adoption site from 1-3 on Saturdays (50 Railroad Avenue in

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Poco, a Sylva Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in Sylva, or seeking a Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog from a breeder in Sylva.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sylva already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sylva breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Chihuahua/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sylva paves the way for another one to be saved.
