My name is Gabby and I’m a 9-pound, 8-year-old female Corgi-Chihuahua mix with an amazing will to live and a heart-wrenching story to tell. You see, I’ve experienced both the pampered life of a beloved pet as well as the wretched existence of a homeless stray. My human mom and I were residing comfortably in an assisted living facility in Columbia last year when she suddenly passed away. One of the kind staff members took me to her home, but I somehow managed to escape. I roamed the streets of Columbia for several months before a very compassionate lady picked me up and took me to her home. She says I was at death’s door; I was skin and bones and could hardly walk. She and her family took great care of me, feeding me special foods to help me gain weight and showering me with lots of TLC. Now that I’m on a normal diet and 100 percent healthy, I'm in search of a forever home as my current family is very busy and already includes two other dogs (we get along great). My folks say I’m quite a character and a funny little jokester. I’m a laid-back, sweet, affectionate girl, who loves sitting in my mama’s lap and hanging with my people. But I also have an independent streak, and in bursts of energy I love to play, scamper around like I own the place, roam the yard and bark to let you know someone is coming.
