Windsor's Story...
Thank you for considering adopting a rescued companion animal.    Rutherford Co, NC does NOT have a shelter for adoptable pets. Only a 'high-kill'(3Xs wk) Animal Control, which is operated by the Sheriff's Dept. and maintained by inmates from the local minimum-security prison.   Howlin4Spirit CARes has been giving the local public an alternative to taking their unwanted litters and dogs in need of a safe haven to the uncertainty(owner-relinquished pets are not guaranteed ANY time at AC) and diseases(most pets ending up there have never received any vaccinations nor parasite-prevention) of the local Pound. All our rescued pups have been taken in from an unwanted, abandonment or neglectful situation and will remain in foster care in Rutherford County, NC until their fur-ever family can be approved.  All of our healthy pre-approved adopted pups are spay/neutered and micro-chipped before they are transported to their fur-ever families via 'Wagging Dogs', a licensed and bonded commercial pet transport service(est. 2000). Serving the eastern coast from SC>NH/VT, and upstate NY. Adoption fee: $350 includes neuter, micro-chip, 3-4 Parvo-Distemper boosters (puppies are required 4 boosters 1st yr), 2 Bordatella and 1st yr Rabies(must be at least 3mos) vaccinations. All adults are heart worm negative(if they come to us hw 'positive', they are treated before they are posted up as 'available') and are current on all vax, except Lyme!(NC does not have an issue with Lyme disease, so Lyme vax are not offered in our area). All pups are current with monthly internal parasite, heart worm and flea/tick prevention, come with a new Martindale collar & leash, and will have current health certificate (issued within 7 days prior to transport).  Where there is a scent hound or guardian breed being considered for adoption,  & in homes where children reside or will be visiting, a secured(non-electric) fenced-in yard is required. All potential adopters are required to be at least 25 yrs or older, and send us your completed application(provided below) by either PDF attachment OR copying and pasting into a new email to: h4s_cares@yahoo.com, at your very earliest convenience, to help secure the pup of your choice. Upon receipt of your application, we will acknowledge your application in an email and immediately send out a questionnaire to your 3 personal references. Please, contact and ask your personal references to reply at their most earliest convenience, to help us process your application in a timely manner, to help your chances of getting the pup you want most. Also, please call and give your vet's office permission to release your information to us. We will be contacting them within 2 business days. As soon as we have heard back from your 3 personal references and spoken with your vet's office, We will be back in contact with you to discuss and solidify the adoption. Upon approval of this adoption, & to hold the dog/pup of your choice, we require the pup's entire adoption fee to be sent to our secure PayPal.com acct at: h4s_cares@yahoo.com.  Upon receipt of the adoption fee, we will send you the adoption contract and all pertinent information you will need to be ready for your pup's arrival, and we will reserve your pup a spot on Wagging Dogs next transport(every weekend).  For all pups and small>medium-sized pups, Wagging Dog's transport fees are as follows:                                                                                                                                           Sm & Med-sized crate: $100>as far N as NYC & Long Island, and $125 to points N of NYC as far as Manchester, NH...to be paid to their driver upon delivery via certified check or money order, made out to: 'Wagging Dogs'. Why Adoption is a Great Option

Windsor, a Brookside Newfoundland/Labrador Retriever puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Newfoundland/Labrador Retriever for sale in Brookside, or seeking a Newfoundland/Labrador Retriever puppy from a breeder in Brookside.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Brookside already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Brookside breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Newfoundland/Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Newfoundland/Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Brookside paves the way for another one to be saved.
