Joey is a 1-year-old, neutered male, black and white, Domestic Short Hair.

Joey was born on June 1,2014 and was abandoned only 4 short weeks after his birth before we took him in. We believe that Joey grew up a little 'wild' because he wasn't with his mom or other siblings. We hoped that getting him neutered would relax him enough to be able to to be around our young child, but unfortunately it did not. Joey would fit perfectly in with a family who has room for him to be inside as well as explore some outside and maybe do a little hunting. He would also be best if he wasn't around smaller children, but he is wonderful with older kids and adults.

About Cat's Cradle of the Shenandoah Valley

About Our Rescue Group...

Founded in 1998, Cat’s Cradle seeks to end euthanasia of healthy adoptable cats and dogs in Shenandoah Valley through aggressive spay/neuter of owned animals and TNR (trap/neuter/release) of feral cats.

We also have a network of foster parents and an active adoption program for cats. In 2009 we opened an adoption center in Harrisonburg. We do not euthanize for space.

Please visit our website at: for more information.

Come Meet Our Pets...

We show our cats at PetSmart in Springfield, VA on most 1st and 3rd Saturdays, at the PetSmart in Harrisonburg, VA on some Saturdays and some Sunday afternoons, and at the Petsmart in Waynesboro on Saturdays. We also show cats at our adoption center at 124 S Main St. in Harrisonburg 11-6 M-F, and 11-5 Sat and 11-4 Sunday.

Please visit our website: for other adoption events and hours for showings or call the adoption center at 540-433-1135.

Our Adoption Process...

Please see our website: for a copy of our adoption application and adoption contract. Adoption fees vary, but generally run around $135.

All our cats are spayed or neutered before adoption, and fully vetted. We have an adoption center in Harrisonburg, but we also make extensive use of foster homes until adoption.

We generally prefer indoor only homes, and our contract specifies that the cat(s) will not be de-clawed.

We have some cats that cannot be adopted into an indoor situation. For these, we seek safe barn or out-building locations.
