My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hiya, my name is Toby, what is your name? Nice to meet you! I’m a happy 6 year old poodle Terrier mix. Not long ago, my owner passed away and it has been very hard for me to cope with losing my best friend. My friends at NBS Animal Rescue promised me, that although a friend can never be replaced, the best way to honor someone you cared for, is to make room in your heart for more love. That means I there might be someone out there who has a home for me to laugh with and be loved again, isn’t that great?

Well, I suppose that means I should tell you a bit about my personality. I can be very anxious at first and have a lot to “say” when I meet new people or dogs. I would do best with older kids, or better yet – let me be the kid! I love to be the center of affection and attention. In my foster home, I’ll roll on my back and make funny noises until someone comes and rubs my tummy. That, or I’ll chase my tail like a wild man until someone realizes I need a good back scratch’n. Once I am comfortable, I do LOVE to play with toys. Pretty much, I could go pro with wrestling stuffed animals. Also, I’m crate trained, and have been rocking at the potty training thing. (took me a few days to adjust to a totally new surrounding). I also love treats, will wear sweaters and coats – I LOVE to look good, doesn’t everyone? Although I live with other foster dogs, I’d prefer to be the star pup of the house. I can be a little bit bossy with other dogs. You know how some people are just “cat people” or “dog people”? Well, that makes me a “people-dog”, I just love my humans more than anything. Well, I do pretty good with cats too. Anyway – I just want to be loved, and be a lap dog again. These fluffy ears were just MADE to be scratched, don’t cha think?

My friends at NBS Animal Rescue are helping me to find the perfect fur-ever home. All of the dogs in our rescue are have different personalities and needs within an adoptive home. Not all of my friends here at NBS Animal Rescue have the same requirements, so if I’m not be the perfect fit for your family- be sure to check out my other doggy friends too! For me?

These are the things I fur-sure need in my fur-ever home!
- Lots of Love and Treats
-Children must be 10yrs or older
If you think I might be the perfect addition to your family please follow these steps:

1.) Visit www.nbsar.org to fill out my adoption application. As an approved adopter, my rescue friends can set up a home visit so I can meet you. Our rescue is 100% run by volunteers, to help your application be processed as quickly as possible, please make sure to….

2.) Call your veterinarian and give them permission to release information about your current and past pet’s veterinary history.

3.) Call your references too! Let them know to expect a phone call from an unknown phone number, and a rescue team member will need to talk to them on the phone as a reference.

My adoption fee is $250.00 and includes a DHPP vaccine, bordatella vaccine, de-worming, spay/neuter surgery, rabies vaccine (age appropriate), heartworm test (age appropriate), heartworm preventative, flea/tick preventative, microchip insertion, bath, nail trim, ear cleaning, leash and collar and one week's worth of food. If you’d like to meet me, please apply online and to become an approved adopter!

Our adoption process requires that any pet in your household be current on vaccinations and heartworm preventative , spayed/neutered (unless a documented medical reason is on file with your veterinarian). Dogs must be current on Distemper DHPP combo vaccine and Rabies vaccine, cats must be current on Distemper and Rabies at the time of application. This also applies to any pets in your home within the past five years.

While I hope that you have fallen in love with me and are ready to apply, I understand if I might not be the perfect pup for your family just yet. However, would you please help by sharing my picture on Facebook, twitter or by email? I'm a great pup and need a loving family to give all of my love and puppy kisses to! Thank-you for your help!
