Smokey Mechu's Story...
Smokey Mechu came into the shelter as a surrender on 3/19/2015, he was already neutered and was surrendered because they could no longer care for him. He is a bigger boy (around 16 pounds). He is not in our general adoption area because of him being such a big boy. We put him in our treatment room to live with Savannah (another long term resident). Since he was moved and is more active Smokey Mechu has actually started to lose some weight and seems to be getting around better and is more playful. One thing that we have noticed about Smokey Mechu is that he is sensitive to flea bites, he will scratch and lick the area until he is missing fur, so he will need to always have flea prevention on. Smokey Mechu is not exactly a "lap cat" but he will keep you company and watch what you are doing. The way to his heart is through soft kitty treats, in moderation of course, but he always gets one or two before his "bedtime".

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Smokey Mechu, a Chambersburg Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Chambersburg, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Chambersburg.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chambersburg already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chambersburg breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chambersburg paves the way for another one to be saved.
