My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shadow is a happy go lucky 2 year old black lab mix. She was recently adopted and returned because she didn't like one of the dogs in the home. Shadow got along fine with one dog, but didn't like the other. Her family said she was great with the kids in the family. They were all age 12 and over. Shadow showed no signs of food aggression with the other dogs or kids. It's not known if she likes cats or not. This gorgeous and active girl will need a secured fenced in yard because she can be an escape artist. Shadow would be best in a home as an only pet with older kids. She's sure a nice girl!

On June 16, 2015, Shadow was selected to be one of Friendship's Prison Dogs. She is currently undergoing training at the Grafton Correctional Institution. Prison Dogs are trained in obedience, basic commands, manners and proper leash walking. She will spend approximately 12 weeks at the prison.

If you are interested in adopting this prison dog, adoption applications are now being accepted. This dog will be returning to Friendship in a few weeks so get your adoption app in ASAP. You can find an app at friendshipapl.org under ADOPT-FIND A FRIEND. Hand deliver the app to Friendship or call if you live a distance away to see if you can fax one in. Please do not email the app.

All dogs receive one or more vaccinations, a basic veterinary examination, are wormed, heartworm tested and spayed or neutered. Dogs 3 months and older are micro-chipped.
