This beautiful young lady is Jolene, a 3 year old shepherd/retriever mix that is so deserving of a fresh start in life. Jolene is one of many dogs that we assisted in rescuing from a residence in Lakewood, NJ, where the more than 30 dogs were living among garbage and feces that lined the floor and walls. Jolene is one of five dogs that we took here at Popcorn Park where she underwent extensive grooming to remove the dirt, mats, and feces from her body. Jolene is lucky in that she is young, and did not suffer for as long as some of the others did, but poor Jolene did not have much human interaction in her young life either. She was completely terrified when she first arrived, and did nothing but hide behind her friends. We have worked with her extensively and she now absolutely loves people and once she trusts you, she will cling onto you and not want to let you go. Jolene is extremely sweet and loving, and just wants people to treat her with kindness. She does not have much confidance yet and depends on other dogs to lead the way, so Jolene must go to a home with another well behaved dog that she can learn from. She will need a more quiet home without a lot of commotion, and also a home with no small children. Jolene is now walking well on a leash but is still unsure of how to play and let her hair down. She will make a wonderful addition to any kind, loving family that will give her lots of patience and love, and the great home that she deserves. File#24711 5/8/15
