My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

An air of sadness hung over this demure little 24-lb Beagle girl with the bent tail when she was discovered in a rural Ohio shelter. Alone, homeless, and forlorn, Midwest BREW came to her rescue. Since then, the sadness has lifted, and Katie's smiles are a mile wide because her forever family is out there somewhere looking just for her!

Beautiful calm Katie embodies all the sweetness and love we expect from our Beagles, but with a twist! Imagine a Beagle so unmotivated by food that she's not worrying over the food cabinet, the doggie cookie jar, or the trash can. That's Katie. Imagine a Beagle unwilling to move in on the resident dog's food bowl. That's Katie--despite a good appetite and love of treats. Imagine a Beagle so quiet, you might hear her bark once a week (like when you come home). That's Katie! And finally, imagine a Beagle who doesn't try to escape the yard, slip out the door, pull on the leash while following her nose, or get into any trouble at all (no de-stuffed toys, raided wastepaper baskets, or missing socks). Yes, that's Katie all right!

But all this goodness comes at a price. You will never again be alone on the sofa, and it will always be adorned with more than designer pillows. It seems to be her rightful place. And you may even have to share your bed with her because, despite the fact that she is well crate-trained, that look in her eyes at bedtime is too much to bear.

Sweet, loving, reserved Katie is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows the commands sit, stay, and come. She respects other dogs (and defers to them), and seems almost ambivalent about the cats she's encountered on her walks (but she is not living with them in foster care). She is wonderful in the car, loves her daily walks, and is excellent on a lead. While initially a bit shy with strangers, she warms up just fine and accepts pets wherever she can find them.

Katie has a tender, gentle soul and is looking for a kindred spirit. So docile, she bows her head when you reach out to pet her, Katie would clearly do best with adults or older children who understand her. A quiet household would suit her best, and one where someone was home during the day would be wonderful. A home with a fenced-in yard would be ideal as Katie loves to roll in the grass, sunbathe in the sunshine, and freely sniff around. But a kind, loving family that comes with sofa privileges is what she's hoping for most. Is that you? A more agreeable Beagle would be hard to find!
