My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello! My name is Edith and I am a 9 year old, 30 lb. beagle-mix gal that was found as a stray and taken to a high kill shelter in South Carolina. I only had hours left to live when Penny Angels stepped in and saved my life. I lived in a foster home in SC and was transported to PABR on Saturday, 6-13-15. I am currently living in another foster home in PA. My first foster mom learned a lot about me when I lived with her, and this is what she wanted to share with potential adopters:

“This senior girl loves people! She follows her foster mom and dad all around the house and yard with her tail wagging non-stop, and she loves to ride in the car. Everywhere Edith goes, she makes human friends! (Oh, how the staff at the veterinarian’s office fell in love with her!) This short-legged, little girl has a million and one kisses available for anyone willing to accept them. When she is really excited, she will walk around on her back legs!

“When Edith isn’t seeking out human companionship, she is looking for a place to take a nap. She loves to climb on the back of the loveseat and fall asleep for hours. In fact, it is where she spends most of her nights. She is so quiet and the only time she makes any sound is when she scratches the door to go outside to potty. Edith is completely housetrained. She gladly walks outside into the fenced backyard or, even more gladly, to take care of her business on a leash walk. Her foster mom thinks Edith was a city girl because she walks out the front door and makes a right turn at the end of the driveway and immediately begins prancing down the street on her leash with human in tow.

“It took Edith a few days to adjust to the other dogs in the house. Now, she doesn’t even seem to notice the other beagles unless they are disturbing her nap. Edith isn’t a big fan of the younger, larger, and more active dogs; they have way too much going on for a small, senior girl. She and the other senior dogs spend a lot of time napping together, away from the boisterous romps of the younger generation of canines in the house.

“Edith has many wonderful qualities and would make a great companion for someone seeking a quiet, loving, housetrained, yet independent older girl. She simply wants someone to love, and someone who will love her in return. She is a happy girl that will sit beside you on the sofa or at your feet. Her smile and wagging tail make you feel loved and welcome the instant you meet her.”
