Maddie's Story...
Meet Maddie, this sweet, darling girl is eligible for our Sanctuary program. Shy with strangers she is super loving and would prefer an adult only home and to be the only dog as she is very selective in dog buddies. Maddie is about 10-12 yrs old, blind, and is currently in Romoland.

Maddie is an adorable, sweet blind girl. She has curly, short, red hair. Her weight is about 29 lbs. has a slender figure for her body structure. She is shy and quiet. Car rides and walks make her really nervous at this time, but this may change with time. She prefers to stay within her environment, where she is familiar with things. Maddie spends a lot of her time sleeping. Her favorite sleeping spot is usually between the dining room chairs, where she may feel safe. Maddie does not jump on furniture or get into trouble. Once she gets to know you she will give you gentle kisses, if you hold her closely. At this time she lives with 3 cocker spaniels (2 Males and 1 Female) and a male pomeranian. The other spaniel Joe is also blind, so often they do bump into each other. Fortunately, they do very well together, although she prefers not to be around kids. She is house trained and uses a doggy door. Her diet consists of dry dog food and is not on any special diet. Has been seen recently seen by a vet for her vision and is doing well. Her daily regimen is to use daily eye drops to prevent glaucoma. Her overall health is good for being about 10-12 yrs. If you are looking for a calm, sweet, easy going new member to your home, consider Maddie she is just that.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Maddie, a Santa Barbara Cocker Spaniel dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cocker Spaniel for sale in Santa Barbara, or seeking a Cocker Spaniel dog from a breeder in Santa Barbara.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Santa Barbara already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Santa Barbara breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cocker Spaniel breeders who help with Cocker Spaniel rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Santa Barbara paves the way for another one to be saved.
