My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET BONNIE Boo Boo-

This beautiful, tiny, 7 lb, 3 year old, smooth red female doxie is truly a gem. Sweet Bonnie has had a very hard life marked by abuse and severe neglect. She was used as a breeder and has had three litters in her short little life. The last litter put her life in jeopardy and the puppies had to be removed by ceasarian section. Due to the neglect, Bonnie had to have a dental with extractions.

Despite all of this trauma, Bonnie BooBoo is super loving and affectionate. She LOVES to be with her people and will follow you everywhere. She is house trained and crate trained. BooBoo doesn't play yet, but perhaps she will in time as she begins to feel safe in a loving environment. Bonnie will do best in a family with a stay at home parent (work from home or retired) and only older children (over age 12), who are familiar with the special needs of Dachshunds. While she doesn't mind other dogs or cats, she would love to have her own family that she can spoil with affection (and be spoiled back, of course).

Like all Dachshunds, Bonnie is high energy and enjoys wandering around and warming her little bones in the sunshine, so along with regular walks around her neighborhood, Bonnie needs a secure fenced yard to run around and explore safely. While small in stature, doxies are big on personality and don't generally do well in apartments, with all of the noises and traffic that come with multiple dwellings in a confined space. To best set up our doxies and their new families for success, ODR, Inc., adopt to families who live in single family homes with secure fenced yards.

OUR CRITERIA (aka The Fine Print):

Based on 30 years of experience with rescue doxies, we have pretty strict criteria. Do you work from home/stay at home/work part time? Have a securely fenced yard? We do not place same gender dogs in a home unless they were raised together, and children need to be 10 or older (some exceptions IF the dog is a puppy or the child has been raised with a doxie). We prefer non smokers and a home with no other small animals (ferrets, hamsters, etc) Cats are on a case by case basis depending on the dog. Remember, these are rescues; many were surrendered because of these issues.

WHAT YOU GET IN RETURN WITH YOUR LITTLE RESCUE:

All our dogs are fully vetted, including spay/neuter, rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, Pyrantyl, nails trimmed, and dental when needed. They'll come with a basket of goodies, food, toys and a custom made harness. The adoption fee is $395, sorry no exceptions, as this covers the cost to rescue them, vet them and take care of them while in our rescue. It also helps towards the care of other doxies that come with huge vet or dental bills or need extensive behavioral training.

Can you give Bonnie Boo Boo a happy, carefree life that she deserves? If interested, please complete the adoption questionnaire at www.odr-inc.org and email it to: jrangan@comcast.net. The adoption committee will attempt to be in touch with you within 48 -72 hours. Please be patient as we are solely volunteer run.
