My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FOSTER LOCATION: Nampa, ID

Handsome man Wilbur is an 8 year old, 12 pound Pomeranian who along with his brother Orville (yes the Wright Brothers) is in search of a new home! Both of these boys were found wandering alone, lost and a bit scared at an airport and taken to the local shelter. A shelter is no place for a senior dog so they came to the Fuzzy Pawz Rescue foster program.

Both boys were in nice shape when they were found, a good weight, and coats in good shape; someone obviously cared for them at one time. Sadly they cared for them in the wrong way and turned them into little dogs who believed that they run the house; they refused to do anything they didn’t want to and no way you could convince them to come to you or let you pick them up to move them or crate them.

The Wright brothers have made great strides and are turning into loving little guys. With a trainers help, a little patience, a leash and some treats and they have both learned that the people rule the world not them! Wilbur does best when he has a leash on for some reason; so his foster mom crocheted a little leash for him to drag around the house. Wilbur has learned that his foster mom calling his name means all good things (can you say treats) and he is great on a leash. For some reason he still has a problem if he gets into a tight place (like under the bed) and you try to get him out; but with the leash on him, a treat and patience he gets over himself and wants loves.

Wilbur is all about the people; he is not that fond of other dogs and would prefer to be the one and only so he did not have to share. That is not to say he can’t co-exist with them, but he will spat with another dog once in a while; really he wants his people to himself. We also would say no to cats in his new home.

This handsome man likes to sit by your feet and take a nap, loves to ride in the car and go for outings. With a little love, some patience and continued work Wilbur will be one amazing dog with some great manner! He is crate trained and willing/eager to continue to learn and grow – you really can teach an old dog new tricks!!

Wilbur does have a collapsing trachea, which is common for Poms; the only thing this does is make him cough and please no pulling on his collar. When going for walks he’d do better with a harness. He is in good physical health other than missing some teeth and he just had a dental. He does have a bit of cloudiness in his eyes (normal for a Pom at his age). He will need a regular grooming routine to keep his coat tangle free, shiny and healthy. (Pretty Paws in Nampa, a Fuzzy Pawz sponsor, will give a 10% discount for his first groom.)

A calm, quieter household that can offer structure is best for Wilbur; no kids under 16 please.

Wilbur is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.

If you would like to meet him and see if you have what it takes you will need to fill out an application with Fuzzy Pawz Rescue: http://fuzzypawzrescue.com/adopt/adoption-application-2/

There is a $40 adoption fee for Wilbur.
