My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Yoda. I’m about 5 years old, and a handsome male Blue Fronted Amazon. I understand I was named after some famous small green Jedi knight! My foster mom says the Force is definitely with me! I came to Florida Parrot Rescue with nothing to my name. My cage had to be disposed of because it was filthy, rusty and too small. But the nice people at FPR got me a nice new cage. If you are looking for a quiet easy keeper, I’m your man. I am extremely quiet and not a screamer. As a matter of fact, I would prefer a relatively quiet household. I am the kind of guy that likes to be in the middle of things so that I can see what’s going on, but don’t need to be cuddled. I’m just happy hanging out on the top of my cage while I watch what’s going on in
the house, and playing with my toys. My foster Mom leaves my cage door open a lot, and I go in
and out, but don’t cause any trouble. I’m really good at entertaining myself as long as I have
plenty of wooden toys to shred! You might be surprised how fast I can shred a huge wooden toy! I
do like to be talked to though, and I’m actually quite a good talker, and can speak both English
and Spanish. If you are speaking with emphasis I really enjoy joining the conversation, invited
or not, and when I get started I will keep you very entertained. I can have a whole conversation
with myself. I like to say “Hello” when the phone rings, “Yoda!”, “You’re a Good Boy”, “Hi
Birdie”, “Come On”, “Yeah” “Whatcha Doin”, “Right There”, “Whatcha Got There”, “Hello”, “Agua”,
“Daddy’s Home”, “Yabda Dabda Doo”, bark like a dog, meow just like a cat and so many other
things! However, if there is a lot of commotion or excitement like kids running around and
playing I do get very loud and excited, so apartments or a place where my sounds will upset the
neighbors is not a good idea. When I get excited and wound up I like to say “Fiesta “and “Opa”
in a very loud excited voice, along with a number of other party words I have in my vast
repertoire. If I get too excited I tend to get a little fiesty, so my foster mom lets me settle
down before handling me after my Fiestas. I also really enjoy sitting on my play stand outside
while I get my baths, and watching all of the wild birds. I can hang by one toe from the top of
my cage. I’m very athletic, so I need lots of room. In my previous home, I had not been handled
in many years, so I’m a little intimidated by hands. If you get too close for comfort, I will
make my Yoda growling sound to let you know not to come any closer. My Foster Mom appreciates
that I give a very clear warning and back up rather than biting. I will step up when my Foster
Mom wants me to, but I’m still reluctant (after all I haven’t known her very long). My foster
Mom says that she won’t push me, and that with time I will learn to trust again. We are working
on helping me trust humans and she says it’s coming along pretty well.
I don’t mind the dogs or cats as long as you keep me safe. I eat Harrison’s pellets, birdie
bread, fruits, vegetables and healthy nuts. I sleep really well at night, and don’t make a peep
until my cage is uncovered. I would love to find a family to call my very own that is willing to
be patient with me, and give me the time and space I need to show you the sweet boy I am. If you
can’t adopt, but would like to send me a toy to keep me busy while I wait for my forever home,
