My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

“Oreo” was abandoned at a local shelter because the owners did not want to take care of him anymore. They said he was too expensive and it took too much time to brush him, so they wanted to get a smaller dog with less hair. Huskies were born to run and live life to the fullest, but poor “Oreo” was considered grossly overweight when he arrived at the shelter. He would waddle from side to side and got tired very quickly when we attempted to take him for short walks. Despite his AMAZING good looks and loving and gentle personality, he was constantly overlooked by potential adopters because he was too fat.
Well, today “Oreo” is new and improved and making great strides in losing weight and increasing his endurance thanks to the loving care and careful exercise program of his at-risk youth program trainers. Initially he could barely walk around their housing unit, but now he is walking/trotting around the exercise yard on a daily basis!
“Oreo” is very gentle and sweet natured and is not a barker, unlike most Huskies which love to howl. He would make a wonderful family pet for a family with young children because of his gentle and loving personality. (Despite his large size, his BFF is a little Poodle mix in our program. Take a look at the photo.)
“Oreo” has a few more weeks in our training program and will be ready for his forever home on July 10th. Please contact us today so you can meet this truly amazing Husky!
