Rico is one suave dude. He is a youngster and has some basic training, like sit, but could use a good teacher for perfect canine manners. He looks to have been given up on before he was given a chance as he is a smart boy and eager to learn. He learned to walk nicely on a freedom harness almost immediately as opposed to pulling on a neck collar. He gets excited and can jump for joy which might be too much for little kids until he is trained to keep 4 on the floor. We found him at the Downey shelter where he was scared to death. Given a few minutes with a calm person or nice girl dog and Rico lets down all guards and enjoys just being a dog. He is a handsome young boy that will grow to be an amazing companion in the right hands. A very balanced dog could be a companion for Rico or he would be just as happy to be your one and only.
Rico is currently residing with a professional trainer who has been working with building Rico's confidence. He is a very sensitive Boxer and responds well to positive methods. Choke chains and adverse training methods do more harm than good with dogs like Rico. He has received professional positive training and will be an awesome dog for the right home. His trainer will teach you every command and show you exactly how to make Rico the best boy he can be.
From his trainer: Handsome Rico hasn't had an easy start in life. But he is such an exceptional dog, he decided to start off fresh. Rico has received professional obedience training to help him overcome his experiences. He is starting to blossom and trust again. Rico is a quiet guy with lots of love to give. He will follow you around and just try to stay close. He is well behaved in the house and loves to have a peaceful time. Rico can be silly and playful and jumps around like a pup when he plays. He's simply an adorable, sensitive guy. Rico will do best in a calm, adult home with yard access.
