Facts about Pumpkin

  • Breed: Macaw
  • Color: Green
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Male
  • ID#: $500.00
This is Pumpkin. He is a red-fronted macaw, is around 25 years old, and is presumed Male. He is a retired breeder bird and was plucked by his previous mates and other birds, prior to coming into our rescue. A lot of his follicles have been damaged to where they will never grow back, however he does get the occasional alfalfa feather on the top of his head that goes up when he's excited. We like to say that he has an interesting hairdo :-) He is very shy, and would require a very patient adopter to work with him constantly, and tolerate his noise level. Pumpkin will step up, and has even allowed us to lay him on his back like a baby, but he is a work in progress. He is female preferential and does not do well with men. He is definitely not for a novice bird owner, and would need someone experienced in handling large birds. He would not be good around children, does not get along with other birds, and would do best in a single bird home.

Come Meet Our Pets...

Birdlink Sanctuary is not open to the public. Any and all visits are conducted on an appointment basis only.

Our Adoption Process...

All interested adopters must have an adoption application on file with us prior to visitation. We strive to find each bird the best possible home that will compliment their personality, and we do believe that the birds pick their new owners, therefore, we do require that potential adopters spend some time with the bird they are interested in. If you seem like a good match for one of the birds, You will be contacted to schedule an appointment to come out and meet the birds. Note that application does not guarantee adoption. Home visits as well as references are generally required to ensure that our birds will not be placed in breeder situations, with hoarders, or other unsuitable environments. We will however, make exceptions for the right home.
