My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Scarlett is currently living in a wonderful foster home in Houston, Texas and is now available for out-of-state adoption.**

This gorgeous brindle girl has been named Scarlet. She is happy-go-lucky and ready to find her new family and begin her real life. She was rescued from the city shelter by Reggie’s Friends in May 2015, but she was clearly very well cared for as she is completely healthy, happy and well behaved. We got her in the nick of time and thankfully so because she is going to fill some family’s home with lots of joy and laughter.

Scarlet is most likely a Plott Hound/ Labrador mix and she is estimated at 2 years old. She is 44 pounds and full grown. She is an active girl and is the perfect companion for hiking, camping and all outdoor activities. Her foster family is trying to get her interesting in swimming and in just a short time, she’s on the second step of the pool, but won’t take the plunge. She gets long walks every night and she absolutely loves the smells, the adventure and spending time with her foster mom. She must have an active family because it’s simply what makes her happy.

Scarlet’s foster home consists of several Chihuahuas, so she is great with little dogs. She loves to play and romp around the yard and the living room, so having a dog sibling her size would be a huge benefit to her too. Car rides are also a big favorite of Scarlet. She sits quietly in the backseat and watches the world out of her window. Scarlet loves to cuddle up with her friends in the living room at night for movies or game night too, so she’s not all action all the time. She sleeps sweetly on her dog bed in her foster mom’s room.

She’s already met lots of children and adults and is exceptionally welcoming with all. If she’s in the backyard with her foster family and some commotion happens outside of the fence, she acts as a wonderful alert dog. She’s very protective of her family and her dog buddies because she’s bonded to them all and will bond easily with her new family as well.

Scarlet is leash trained, crate trained and super smart! She knows a few basic commands and she understands the word no as well. She loves treats and loves to spend time with her people, so we feel that training would be easy for her. Enrolling her into a training class isn’t completely necessary, but we feel that she could be absolutely awesome with that extra effort.

She is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative and fully vaccinated. She is ready to join her new family and start enjoying her adventures and bonding with them. She is currently living in an awesome foster family in Houston, Texas and is available for out-of-state adoption. Her adoption fee is $450, which will cover the costs of her airline flight, new travel crate and bed. These items are hers to keep upon arrival. She’s a beautiful and amazing girl and very deserving of a great future. Please email adoptions@reggiesfriends.org if you’d like to learn more about Scarlett or if you’d like an adoption application.
