My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Oscar is a sweet boy who is working to recover from a broken leg that happened before he arrived at FACE. While he might not ever have full "normal use" of his rear right leg, he gets around fine and he moves about without issue. His use and movement have greatly improved during his time in the free roaming room. He is also FIV+

FIV is an often misunderstood condition.  It moves very slowly and gradually affects a cat’s immune system.  Basically if a cat gets sick it would take their immune system a little longer than normal to fight it off.  Transmission to other cats is difficult- only through very deep bite wounds or sexual activity which is rare in spayed or neutered domesticated cats.  FIV cats can live long, healthy lives if cared for properly.  Many live their entire lives without any symptoms at all. Owner’s of FIV+ cats should try to keep their immune systems strong by providing a high quality diet, staying up-to-date on vaccines and routine vet visits, and not delaying when a cat shows symptoms of illness.  All our FIV+ cats are otherwise healthy and cleared for adoption by our veterinarians.

Thanks for your interest in adopting a cat from FACE! Adult cats (over 1 year of age) are $25 to adopt.  They are all spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, tested for Feline Leukemia and FIV, and microchipped! We have a wonderful free-roaming room where all of our adoptable cats have the freedom to explore and interact with the other cats which makes them well socialized and ready for homes.  You can find an adoption application at http://facespayneuter.org/adoptions/cat-adoption-application/ or if you have specific questions you can email our Adoption Coordinator at Janetm@facespayneuter.org.
