Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Say hello to Penny! She is a 8-9 year old white German Shepherd who is recently retired as a service dog. Penny is looking to spend her retirement with a loving human by her side. She cannot be in a home with small animals due to her high prey drive. After a life of severing others she needs a place to call home during her golden years. She weighed in at 84 lbs and not an ounce of fat. Penny is finally beginning to realize there is a big world outside and she is learning to play a bit. She has been schooled since she was a pup to be a service dog and she has never been free to be just a dog. She prefers to be alone at this point in her transition period. She shies away from personal contact but I discovered she likes to have the thick hair on her rump scratched which is a start. She has a very mellow temperament. She is not comfortable staying outdoors for very long and scratched at the door to be let back in. She needs a quiet home with seniors who will make little demand of her. She wants to be by her Foster Mom most of the time. Due to her training she has the need to be there, yet, she shies away from personal contact. She will do well in an apartment setting with a minimum of twice daily walks or in a home with a yard where she can run free. Her joints were x-rayed by our vet and the reports are very good. No knee problems. She is being treated daily for low thyroid with a very small pill administered twice a day with a bit of meat. A genuinely awesome dog who needs someone who really can accept her as she is and provide a wonderful home for her. Her adoption fee is $150.
