My name is Riley. Like many of my fellow dog actors, I have had to draw on my past to create characters. I have always wanted to play the comic, a Kevin Hart type, but you see, I usually play the serious and withdrawn types, kind of like Orson Wells, only because I have such a tragic story to draw on.

I got my start first confined to a crate in a local high kill shelter, something of a MacBeth experience. Then a nice lady from a rescue group came and got me out, but before I could get settled her shelter flooded. Next thing I knew, I was back in another crate in an empty store! This story felt like Homer's The Odyssey, where Odysseus wandering the seas for 10 years struggling to return home. I was so lonely and no one let me out of my crate hardly ever.

But like in every good story, the fates smiled upon me. The President (yip, the President!) of Paws came and took one look at me and saw my STAR potential -and comedic talent- not just my tragic beginnings.

Before I could be their next star, I needed some other things super fast. First, they got me fixed up at the vet. Second, I got into a good foster home. I guess since I had been isolated in a crate for so long -I was going downhill fast- but somebody realized it and took action. I am what is referred to as a TRUE RESCUE. They got me with a foster that could be patient and teach me to trust people again.

In no time, I felt like a new dog! I learned new tricks. Found out that I'm great at playing and getting along with other dogs (in fact, my foster brothers and sisters have been great teachers), I love following them everywhere; including outside to potty and I know 'sit' too! But at night, I still like my crate because it's my 'safe place'.

I am starting to live the 'life of Riley'; a easy and pleasant life. I spend my days wrestling with my foster siblings, following my foster mom around the house and now I realize that home is a safe place and car rides are great!

I am getting bolder and closer to being able to audition for my new forever owner. I am still a little shy with new people, but I will let anyone pet me, and after I get to know you, I will get in your lap.

I am about 30% Belgian Terveran, 30% Chinese Crested with a dash of cocker spaniel, a smidgen of Lhasa Apso and spoonful of dachshund and weigh about 20 pounds.
