My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ODIN is a 6 year old neutered black male Lab-mix who weighs 60 pounds. He is a handsome, affectionate and super smart guy that is looking for a family to take him for hikes and dote on him! Odin is very affectionate, he is a big lap lab and is happy to join you in bed if you'll allow! Odin enjoys going on long walks and hikes and fetch. Odin knows commands such as: Sit, Down, Stay, Wait, Here (come), Go Lay Down (will go to his spot), Gimme Paw (both), Show Me Your Belly, Speak (tell me), and Inside. He doesn't like thunderstorms and does best with his thunder-shirt on and a peanut butter kong to keep him busy.
ODIN is house trained and has free roam of his foster's home. His evaluator said: "He is a very well mannered dog and is very smart. He has several interactive games to keep him entertained, he likes to be active. He kept trying to give me kisses during the eval."
From foster mom: Odin loves being with his humans, foremost over canine companionship, so a family with retired parents or parents home more often than not would be ideal for him. A fenced yard would be great! Odin is a sweet, very well-trained boy. He's not a fan of the crate and doesn't need it. He mostly lounges about with the resident dogs and sometimes engages in play. Odin sits and waits for his food and will only begin eating when you release him by saying "Odin, okay". He doesn't beg for food or counter surf. He loves taking walks ~ we've encountered lots of people, snow blowers, dogs, and a cat - Odin stays calm and looks to me for direction. Odin is approved for kids ages 10+.

Update (10/15): Odin is such a cutie! See him chilling on foster parent's bed here: https://youtu.be/Q5exXnZqrJY

Update (10/14): Odin is known as Mr. Happy in his foster because he is always happy and smiling! He is an awesome foster dog and blends in so well with the two resident pups. He is always up for a walk or hike and loves spending time with his people! Odin is patiently waiting to brighten up the lives of his forever home!

Update (8/22): ODIN is such a joy to foster! When he’s not shadowing me, he’s playing with his foster siblings or dishing out kisses & cuddles & Lab-leans to his human family members. He’d do great in a forever home with a canine friend, a fenced yard in a quiet neighborhood, and a stay-at-home Parent who understands he warms up slowly to new situations. ODIN is 6 years old but don’t let that fool you ~ he has bundles of energy and makes an excellent walking, jogging or hiking buddy. He's a great little guy!

Update 7/26): Odin continues to learn tricks and charming his foster mom. He gets along great with the resident dogs, but he's not fond of cats. He's hoping to find his forever family soon, one that lives in a quiet neighborhood or rural area, with room to run around and go hiking, or long walks. He loves the outdoors. Odin is a very smart boy and loves to snuggle with his people the most.

Update (4/3): ODIN (smiling on the left) is a 6yr old hunk! Although he loves hanging out with his foster brothers, he still wishes for a forever home! Isn't he adorable!!

Update (3/27): ODIN continues to be a joy to foster!!! We have found that he has no problems with parents that work full-time, as long as there's a canine buddy. A visit from a dog walker would be nice, too! His cuteness does not come across in photos .. he's a tiny teddy bear! Each morning I am greeted with kisses, a happy dance, and finally zoomies! He loves having a vantage point to watch people walk on the trail and to see squirrels/ bunnies scamper about. He watches them with curiosity, but he doesn't bark. He has the perfect energy for a 2.5 mile jaunt around a lake on weekends, but he's also content to just relax near you, or on you, while watching tv

Update (3/13): Odin loves cuddle time and he will also fully enjoy any couch in your home! He spends his days playing, he loves fetch, if you don't pay attention during the game, he'll chuck the ball towards you! So, it ends up being a game of tennis! He's a low maintenance guy, he's content with a 45-minute walk each day, a game of fetch and some lap time. He free roams the house while his foster is at work. He is left with interactive dog puzzles to pass the time as he is very intelligent. He is a great foster and he's very loveable!

Update (2/26): He knows our routines and starts walking upstairs for bedtime when I click off the tv. He sleeps on a dog bed in the master bedroom and will lick you incessantly once the alarm rings! Tonight we saw bunnies in the backyard - Odin crouched down to stalk it .. I said leave it and he went into a sit/stay - no pulling on lead as the bunnies scampered away. Odin is awesome! He knows the following commands: sit, stay, wait, down, come, leave it, gimme paw, gimme other paw, okay, and go-go (released from heel). Oh, he loves it when you talk to him during your walks .. he responds with chuffs and chirps .. If I'm upstairs and he needs to go potty he'll tell me with a "Whoo woo woo!!" If I delay my response he will "tell" me again and then start licking and nudging my hands. Odin has a "happy dance" , he rubs on your legs like a cat, loves to be scratched along his back and behind his ears. Odin's plain dry kibble must be enhanced with wet food, or greek yogurt, or cheese .. he is a FAN of cheese! He also likes peanut butter.
