My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.
If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Tiger is an adorable 7 year old, 10 pound shih tzu/ poodle cross who lost his home due to serious illness in his family. His breed mix makes his fur good for people with allergies and also his breed mix means he will likely live another 7 or more years. Tiger is an easy going, mellow, and sweet little boy who loves nothing more than to be by his person and cuddle. He loves sleeping in bed with his foster family. Tiger gets along well with the other dogs and cats in his foster home and he is good with respectful children But due to his small size, respectful children over the age of 12 are recommended and he lived with kids that age in his previous home. Tiger is crate trained and potty trained when let out on a schedule. He has good house manners and he would be a great addition to any home looking for a friendly and sweet small dog. Tiger is with Happy Hound Rescue, a 501c3 all volunteer rescue and is in a foster home. He is neutered, is current on all shots, worming, heartworm protection and flea/tick protection, and he has a HomeAgain microchip. His adoption fee is $300.00 plus state sales.
• Homeowners: House with fenced yard required

• Status of adopter: 30+

• Previous dog owning experience: Small dog experience required

• Age of children: 12 and up, may consider younger girls with small dog experience

• Another dog in the home: Another small playful dog or cat would be fine; he is used to living with another dog

• Cat(s) in the home: Safe with cats

• Fenced yard: Tiger REQUIRES a fenced yard. His family had to move to a townhome and he didn’t do well there—very stressed without a yard. No exceptions.

• Time alone on work days: Requires someone who is home part of the time
