My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 7/17: Has temp foster. She was picked up from the vet this morning and is guessed to be 7 years old.  She's heartworm negative!

Update 7/11: Frances is now  urgent due to shelter crowding!

Frances is in a rural shelter where she's not getting any adopter interest. We can arrange her transport to our area with an approved adopter. Please submit an application if you'd like to meet her. This is not a no-kill shelter, so time is of the essence. She will probably need housebreaking work as most hounds in this area live outside 24/7.

Shelter Bio: Frances is at least six years old, but you won't know it until you look at her teeth. She is lovely and has plenty of energy left. She is happy go lucky and great with other dogs.

6/17 update from volunteer: I visited Frances today, who has been in the pound since the end of April. She has gained weight while she's not getting exercise, so looks a little round, likely 50 lbs. Right now she is looking a little overweight from being fed well and no exercise to burn those calories. She is taller than I thought, too, measuring 19 1/2 inches at the top of the shoulder and does look a coonhound mix. Frances is easy going, meets other dogs and cats quite easily and gently, we can rub all over her, I picked her up, played with her food, and all is well. The staff say she and her kennel mate have never fought over food. Both those dogs are plenty chunky, too, so I know neither of them are missing meals. When I first put a slip lead on her, she wanted to pull toward the door, but when I got her out, she just walked nicely with no pulling at all. I don't know if she would get excited every time, or just now while she's incarcerated. This is such an easy going dog, I believe if she had a yard or was walked on a regular basis, that she would not pull at all. She did not try to jump on me at all which is a great plus. This is a nice girl who would do well with children.
