My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ROXY is a 6 year old spayed yellow female Lab that weighs 58 pounds. She is a pretty and very lovable girl! Her owner passed away and his family left her in the shelter drop box, in hopes of a second chance for her. She is thrilled to be part of the Lab Rescue family! Roxy is 6 years in age and a petite lady. Somewhat shy/timid, but she liked to be close to me. Roxy is house trained, lived as an inside dog and is great with both dogs and cats. I told this honey to keep her suitcase nearby! Roxy is approved for kids ages 10+.
Note: Roxy is able to easily clear a 4-ft fence and will do so even if you are standing next to her. This girl must have a 6-ft fence in her new home and needs to work on her leash walking. She WILL try to run after any bunnies or squirrels she sees.

From LR transporter: We walked around a bit after leaving the shelter. She jumped right in the car and was a perfect rider: only barked once. Didn't hesitate to stroll on into the vet’s office. She let me pet her all the way to Towson. What a nice girl!

Update (11/10): Roxy's foster family reports that she is their constant companion in the house. She’ll sleep at their feet or lie close to them on the couch. She wants to sleep next to her foster family every night and will wake them up with sloppy kisses. She waits patiently for her food and water and she will get their attention to let them know if dinner is late or she needs to go outside. She enjoys a long walk, rolling in the leaves and then will take a nap. Roxy doesn't appear to have any interest in retrieving balls. Roxy is a smart girl and knows sit, stay and down.

Update (10/30): Roxy's personality is really starting to emerge and she's wonderful. She’s now trying to get attention by using her nose to nudge my hand. When her foster is out of the house, she stays in the crate. She is sleeping well in the crate. She follows her foster around like a shadow and loves to give kisses. She can be very laid back in the house and then make a 360 degree change to running very fast in our back yard. I’m working on making her sit and stay before opening the front door. She is is very food motivated, and has a lot of love to offer.

Update (10/23): Roxy and I took advantage of the beautiful weather yesterday and went for a long hike at Sugarloaf Mountain. She is a good walking partner and would even be a good jogging partner if you jog at a slow pace. We came across a French Bulldog, and Roxy said hi politely and we went on our way. She will sit pretty when you ask her to. Roxy has been waiting patiently for a family to shower her with love. See her on youtube here: https://youtu.be/bDI9SQe2R50

Update (9/25): Roxy is doing great and is ready for her forever home! Her owner passed away and the family was not able to keep her so she was left in the overnight drop box with a note. She is a very sweet girl who is extremely loyal and affectionate. She knows sit, down and sometimes stay. She takes treats very gently and seems to be food motivated. She was in a foster home with dog savvy cats and did fine. She can be a little selective with other dogs, so a home where she gets all of the attention would be best. Roxy needs a home with a 6ft fence. She walks well on a leash but is very interested in rabbits and squirrels and will try to chase them so a harness would be best.

Update (7/20): Roxy is a joy in the house and very well behaved while inside. She likes to be around you and would prefer someone home more than not. Outside she is much more tempted to chase squirrels and run off, so she must be on a leash if outside. She needs work on her leash-walking skills and must have a proper introduction to other dogs.

Update (7/6): Roxy has been with me 9 days now and she has settled in quite well with the two house dogs and one VERY old cat. She did well with her introductions and she walked with each of my dogs. She does get excited when she sees squirrels and rabbits. She's house trained , doesn't get into mischief, no counter-surfing. She does best with someone not gone for a full work day. She settles down at night with the others dogs, usually claims part of the bed. I haven't left her very long with one of the other dogs but she doesn't like being left alone too long and/ or kept in a crate. She would be a great companion to someone who likes their dogs being close to them.
