Baja's Story...
Adoption fee on this dog is $300.

Baja is a 1.5 year old male weighing 86 lbs. He was brought in as a stray to an Oakdale shelter, so nothing is known of his background.

Baja is very affectionate, however, he does jump up when excited. If he was allowed inside in the past, he was not taught to stay off the furniture or beds. If Baja thinks he's in trouble, he flattens to the ground. He met three large German Shepherds easily and doesn't seem interested in play at this time. When put in a crate, he takes a while to settle down. He doesn't seem to know much in the way of commands or walking properly on leash. Baja rides well in the car, but needs to be hoisted in. More will be posted as we get to know him better.

Baja will need a home willing to continue to socialize him and provide him proper training, structure, and exercise. Since he wants to please his people, he should be very receptive to learning new things.

Cats and small critters unknown.

This dog is a Level 2. Please be sure you understand what a dog of this Level requires. Go to our GCGSR Dogs page for an explanation of the Dog Rating Levels.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Baja, a Sacramento German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Sacramento, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Sacramento.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Sacramento already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Sacramento breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Sacramento paves the way for another one to be saved.
