Howdy, Cowboy! This sweet Dachshund/Chihuahua cross was found in a field, dumped by his owners. Shortly after coming into our rescue we learned that Cowboy has a severe heart condition. We immediately scheduled him to be checked out by a specialist, only to be told he is not a candidate for surgical repair. We are currently able to control some of the heart problems with 3 medications, which cost approximately $70/month. He was given a life expectancy up to 3 years give or take and is doing quite well.
He is approximately 4 years young, weighs about 13 pounds, and is a total love bug. Cowboy is not the most confident dog in the pack, but he loves his furry companions! He gets along well with dogs, and could care less about the cats. He would probably benefit from the company of a confident dog in the house. He bonded very quickly to his foster mom's daughter, and follows her all over the house. He is house trained and has good doggy manners. This boy is looking for his furr-ever family, one where he knows he is going to stay! Won't you give him a place in your heart? His adoption fee is $100; this helps us to rescue & rehabilitate other shelter dogs.
All of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes, and as such these individuals are most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog.
We do not have a central shelter or kennel locations - you must make a private one-on-one meet and greet appointment with each individual dog at the foster family's convenience. To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an APPROVED adoption application on file before we release their contact information.
All of our dogs are fixed (spayed/neutered) and up to date on shots. We have a 2 week foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog is a fit for your family. Adoption fees vary from dog-to-dog.
Please note that an approved application DOES NOT guarantee that the dog will be placed with you. The final decision rests with our fosters as they know the dogs the best, and please be aware that there may be other applicants interested in the same dog. We continue accepting applications on a dog until the dog is with the new adoptive family in their home.
