My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When a Farfel's volunteer first met Olive, she was struck first by her cuteness...how could you not be? Her curious and very affectionate personality (so typical of a happy and well-socialized dog) became the entertainment of the day...so funny and cute that you just had to periodically hug her. We were all very glad that she wouldn't remember the terrible challenges of her younger days...Code Red at a dreary shelter. As hope seemed to fade away for Olive, Farfel's got a call that this sweet pup, at just 18 - 24 months old and 24 lbs would be getting a reprieve from euthanasia (the shelter workers thought Olive was amazing also!) if Farfel's would agree that she could join our rescue. So...through the love and immediate action of rescuers in Texas, Olive's precious life was saved at the very last second. From that moment forth, Olive has been nothing but a delight! She's learning so quickly and understanding that the world can be a very positive place. We couldn't be happier that we've been given the wonderful task of finding this lovely dog her forever family.

We are searching for the most loving and nurturing home for this exceptional dog as she learns the positive skills that result in a strong bond with her family. We would also like a home where the family is present... a retired couple or individual who has the positive energy for teaching this young and extremely smart girl boundaries while maintaining her positive outlook would be perfect. She's a cuddly lap-dog who would be overjoyed being a very important family member. Or a family with older, dog-crazy children that are very gentle and choose to include their pet in their daily lives would be great as well. We feel strongly that Olive should attend group training classes (all dogs should) to mold her into a well-behaved and bonded adult companion. Level 1 Obedience class with her family will be a great start to promoting awesome behavior and peaceful relationships with humans and dogs. It's also imperative that Olive is given mental stimulation and lots of exercise. It's so important to start teaching leash manners on the incredible trails of Colorado....this will start Olive on her path to being a fit and fun companion. She's a perfect size to be able to accompany her family on hiking/backpacking trips or perhaps snow-shoeing in the winter months. Even a leisurely stroll to do some neighborhood socializing would make this sweet girl so happy. This time-spent will be a joy for both the family-oriented Olive and her favorite people.

We've requested (and believe it's been done) that Olive be spayed in Texas. We know that conditions are terribly overcrowded however, so if Olive wasn't fixed, Farfel's will be happy to take responsibility for all costs for Olive's spaying and microchipping at our Denver vet immediately after she arrives in Colorado.

Olive has the classic...and truly beautiful..Poodle-type coat that with great nutrition and periodic grooming will become the gorgeous and cottony-soft coat of the adult Schnoodle (Schnauzer/Poodle mix). Olive is a non-shedding girl so a commitment to periodic grooming is necessary to keep her hair healthy and matt-free.

Olive will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/26/15. If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
