Hershey's Story...
Tubby (Butternut) and his brother Hershey were orphaned (along with 10 other pups) when their stray mother was found dead in a pasture, apparently the victim of a mad bull that didn't like her trespassing. (Welcome to rural Arkansas!) The pups were only about a week old. Tubby and Hershey came to our rescue and had to be bottle fed for 5 weeks. They are doing well, and are now about 7 weeks old as of June 20. They've had their first set of shots and will have another set as well as rabies, microchip, and neuter before adoption.

The vet said they are heeler/cattle dog/lab mix puppies. We are guessing they will be medium sized dogs. They are very sweet puppies, very playful, and loving. They are working on their puppy manners and housetraining, and whoever adopts will need to continue this after adoption.

The adoption fee is $450 for everything, including transport. They are in Arkansas now, but will make the trip to the NE for adoption.

If interested, please submit an application at www.arkanpaws.org. That's the best way to be considered. ***Keep in mind that although they are super cute, puppies are a LOT of work and pee, poop, and chew inside if not supervised. But, they will repay you with love and companionship for years to come.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hershey, a Somers Labrador Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog for sale in Somers, or seeking a Labrador Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog puppy from a breeder in Somers.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Somers already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Somers breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog breeders who help with Labrador Retriever/Australian Cattle Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Somers paves the way for another one to be saved.
