Joss's Story...
Joss is a playful youngster at 7 months of age. She looks like a tiny black Shepherd and weighs 25 pounds. She has a little bit of growing to do and we expect her to be 40 pounds full grown. Joss absolutely loves other dogs. She would do well in a home with other canines. Joss survived on her own until her recent rescue and is quickly learning to trust people. We spend a lot of time holding Joss and her favorite thing is to be groomed. Once that brush starts moving, she melts into your arms and is associating humans with affection and pleasure. Joss is looking for a home that can continue to give her confidence and TLC to help her blossom into the companion she wants to be.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Joss, a Austin German Shepherd Dog/Basenji puppy was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog/Basenji for sale in Austin, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog/Basenji puppy from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog/Basenji breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog/Basenji rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
