ABOUT ME: My name is Buddy and YES I am a purebred Golden Retriever. First off you NEED to know that I am DOG SELECTIVE. What that means is that I do not LIKE all dogs BUT I do like SOME dogs. I can be a bit dominant with my toys and water bowl with OTHER DOGS. Therefore, IF you have other dogs if they are not submissive then I am NOT a good fit for you. I do HOWEVER LOVE all humans, big or small! Kids are great in my book. NO cats......OK now that we got that part out of the way lets move along to more information about me and the training I need. I have quite a lot of information to tell you so PLEASE be patient and read my ENTIRE BIO. After all, if you are too impatient to read this entire bio to ensure I am a fit for your home then likely you do not have the patience to deal with my training and YES I need quite a bit of training! You see, I was originally purchased by a man who did not really have the time for a puppy. As a result, I was not really taught important things like what I can and cannot chew and when I can and cannot jump up etc. I was never really given an outlet for ALL of my fun PUPPY energy and therefore that resulted in me losing my home. I was given to another person who absolutely LOVED me and wanted to take care of me. He had simply taken me in because he did NOT want to see me homeless at a pound, or given away to someone who would just breed me , or tie me outside because I was doing the "puppy" stuff. He really cared for me a lot, but he quickly realized that with his long work hours he did not have the time to take care of me the way he wanted to and the way I deserved to be. While he worked very long hours he was not crating me and of course I would get into some things like the remote control, shoes, etc. I wasn't doing anything horrible, but he would feel so bad every day when he came home because he saw I was not getting any exercise and I was very sad. He did the unselfish thing and called this rescue. OKAY SO HERE ARE THE SPECIFICS ABOUT ME: I LOVE my humans. I mean LOVE LOVE LOVE my humans so much and I am gentle loving and I follow them around and am very willing to please. Being that I am so willing to please this is VERY good news for you. You see, I am very easy to train when humans have the time. I am actually able to go to work with my current foster dad and I am getting much much better about knowing I am not able to jump up on strangers. In fact, I am only gently climbing up for hugs now from foster dad when asked! So that is a big bonus. I love to meet and greet the customers at the floral shop and I have never ever met a human I do not like. I am fostered with a 10 year old female border collie who I get along with PERFECTLY. She is very submissive and could care less about my "boyish" ways and wanting to be a bit of the boss. I have also liked many of the other submissive dogs that I have met and played with them appropriately. I do NOT get along with dominant or bossy dogs. I am a TOTAL water dog! I enjoy swimming so very very much! If you had a swimming pool, pond, lake, or are a boater....YOU are my DREAM home. Swimming is also an excellent source of exercise and a great way for me to burn off "puppy" energy. Because trust ME once I have burned off my energy I want to snuggle with you and lay on the couch and watch Netflix all day! I LOVE to travel in the car and I am quite the traveler. I definitely need to be in a crate when you are gone. You see, I am still a puppy and a big puppy at that so when I get bored while you are away I will find something to do. Usually what I find is a shoe to chew on, a remote control, etc. ALSO, I bond very very quickly. It will be a good idea for you to ensure we spend time apart from each other so that I do not get too attached that anxiety results. Right now, my foster dad does leave me alone in the crate and I am doing much better with that. I will whine and cry at first and put up a bit of a fuss, but he ignores that and lets me know that I have to have my "alone" time and that can be enjoyable too! Okay, so in closing if you have an active family and the means to exercise me daily, we would be a great fit. If you understand that I am going to need VERY REGULAR grooming and have the means to pay for said grooming, we would be a great fit! If you have a schedule and the time that will allow you to take me for obedience training and work with me on the "puppy" stuff, we would be a great fit. If you are athletic and enjoy a dog who wants to jog, run, swim, hike, well we would also be a GREAT fit. If you want to train a therapy dog (this will take some time please understand I am NO WHERE near ready for that now), I would be an excellent therapy dog with my temperment and my desire to learn....So if you have read this entire bio and you think you are a fit then you really should go online right NOW and complete the application to adopt at: WWW.CTHAR.ORG If you have not read the entire bio and you email and ask a lot of questions that are contained in this bio, please understand the volunteers are not going to take the time to respond. If you cannot after all take the time to read my whole bio and make sure you can commit to me then you are definitely not the right fit for me. I have already had 2 permanent homes and 2 foster home...the volunteers are committed that this WILL be my last home. My permanent, loving, family forever.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

BUDDY AKA BUDWEISER***READ WHOLE BIO DOG SELECTIVE***, a Mentor Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Mentor, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Mentor.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Mentor already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Mentor breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Mentor paves the way for another one to be saved.
