Facts about Ciera

  • Breed: Domestic Shorthair
  • Color: Tortoiseshell
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
Cierra is a beautiful brown, tan and orange Tortoiseshell. She came to BHS as a stray looking for help with her two babies. Cierra was so sweet that someone must own her but to no prevail BHS could not locate her owner. She is litter trained and also crate trained. She is fine with other cats but prefers to have the house to herself. She has also been around cat friendly dogs. She loves to have his head and ears rubbed but will let you know with a little nibble when she wants you to stop. Cierra is estimated to have been born in November of 2013. Cierra is in foster care but would love to have her own home where she will never have to be outside to fend against weather and other critters. Could you give Cierra a FOREVER home?
If you do not have internet, contact our Office at 540-586-6100 and Office Manager, Diane will get a message to my foster mom to call you.

About Bedford Humane Society

About Our Rescue Group...

The Bedford Humane Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1994 and dedicated to eliminating the overpopulation of cats and dogs in Bedford County through education, spay/neuter programs, and companion animal adoptions. We are NOT the tax-funded Bedford County shelter on Falling Creek Road, although we do try to help the animals there whenever possible. Our adoptable pets live in volunteer foster homes where they receive the care and attention they deserve while awaiting a permanent home.

Our various programs for Bedford County and City of Bedford residents include::

•A low cost spay/neuter program for area pets
•The construction of a no kill animal shelter, The Vernon D Lybolt Adoption Center, at 829 Ole Turnpike Road in Bedford.
•Find homes for abandoned and homeless animals through our adoption and transport programs.
•Help pet owners with unexpected expenses involving their pets, through our Emergency Fund program.
•Provide humane traps and spay/neuter subsidies for feral cats through our Forgotten Felines program.
•Humane Education program for area Scout troops and schools.

Our Adoption Process...

Have you discovered a pet you wish to adopt? Great!

Now, the first step is to complete an adoption application on our website at This is not a commitment to adopt. It is simply the first step in the process.

We will review your application for preliminary approval before asking the foster parent to contact you to set up a time to meet the pet. You may also have concerns about how the animal will fit your home environment. When the foster parent contacts you, you will be able to discuss your concerns with someone who has first-hand experience with the pet.

After you meet the animal, you and the foster parent can decide if this is definitely the forever pet for you.
