Please welcome Buddy! Although he was abandoned by his original owners and was in and out of shelters before coming into ESRA, Buddy remains a loyal and loving companion.
Buddy is somewhat unusual in that he is both a dedicated working dog and a great family dog. He loves chasing and flushing birds, and he is very happy trying to catch every bird that flies by. Birds excite Buddy so that much he spends his day running around chasing them! Springers are great hunting dogs, but they are not usually built to work all day. Buddy is an exception: he won't stop unless he has to (or until the birds fall asleep). If he were given the chance to hunt all day, he would still have energy to spare at day's end. Buddy shows some signs that he has been trained in hunting protocols, as he is very obedient with recall and other commands. He is getting better on the leash, but his Forever Family will need to continue working with him on this skill.
Buddy gets along great with every person and dog he has met. He is completely housetrained and behaves himself in the house while his foster parents are away. At night, Buddy assumes his role as "master cuddler" of his foster parents and canine siblings. In the morning, he greets everyone with a smile and wiggly tail.
If you are looking for a super sweet four-legged companion to love, exercise, and share your time with, then Buddy is your guy. He will reward you with his affection, unlimited loyalty, and zest for life. Buddy's lucky Forever Family will be getting an outgoing, happy, and wonderfully social young Springer boy!
Please note that an approved adoption application is the first step in a more thorough interview process that is designed to match each dog to exactly the right family, and that the final decision rests with the dog's case manager.
Please read the Adoption FAQ and get an Adoption Application approved before inquiring about Buddy.
