My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CABELLA is a 1.5 year old spayed black female Lab who weighs 50 pounds. Cabella is very friendly however she is very shy and needs some time to warm up to you. She brightens up when she is around other dogs. The volunteers at the shelter said she was absolutely beautiful, loving and sweet. Cabella will need a patient family that is willing to work with her and give her the time to settle in and be loved. Cabella is good with other dogs and must go to a home with another dog as she feels more comfortable around them. From transporter: Cabella has been a sweet and affectionate pup since she got out of the van. She has not barked or whined once since we have met! She is very mellow and when she got in the car she took a minute to look out the back window and then settled in to take a nap on the seat. The only sign of shyness or timidness that I have seen is that she wraps around my legs and underneath them at times. She has an expert lab lean. I would honestly keep her if I could! She has a very sweet disposition and is super calm. She was a stray to a shelter in WV. She is approved for kids 10+.

Update (7/3) : I meant to mention that she's very at ease in the house. She isn't nervous about typical sounds - hairdryer, microwave, vacuum. She is a little nervous about cars driving by while out walking, but basically just cautious, not a bad thing. She is getting better on the leash- she does not pull at all. This girl just wants to please and learn!

Update (6/29): We had a few soggy walks yesterday but fortunately Cabella (who I call Monkey because she is doing everything Maestro does) likes to be toweled off. She is good in the house, waits to go outside to potty and just gives a quiet whine when she needs to go. She has quickly learned to sit for treats and wait for the leash. She always wants to be close to you but will go off and find a corner to herself, she settles very well. She seems to have a prey drive based on her interest in squirrels. We met a few people and dogs on the walk this morning and she greeted very quietly and nicely. She seemed equally good with men and women. Wagged her tail at the dogs, sniffed and moved on.
