My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

POPEYE is a 2 year old neutered chocolate male Lab that weighs 67 pounds. He is a friendly energetic pup who loves to play and get attention. He likes to retrieve and is good at it, you toss it he will bring it back. He will be tested to see if she is a candidate as a working dog, if he doesn't make that he will be available for adoption. He will make a wonderful addition to a family that is looking for an young energetic lab, as long as they understand he need training, love and attention. Good with other dogs. No cat history. Knows sit, down, come. Will have a training addendum as he is young and can stand some additional training. Okay pulls some on lead, good with an Easy Walk harness. then settles down. Popeye is crate trained and may be house trained as he is keeping room clean at the kennel. Popeye is approved for kids ages 10+.

Update (7/3): Popeye is a stunningly handsome chocolate lab with a rich brown coat. He is sweet and loving. He is a high energy dog and will benefit from regular exercise and an active family. He enjoys running around and exploring a fenced in backyard. He loves playing fetch and he is fantastic at it. He is working on the dropping the ball but has no problem chasing after it or returning with it. He is definitely still a puppy at heart and will benefit from patience and training, like most young pups! This handsome guy will make a wonderful addition to an active family! He is too interested in cats so no cats for Popeye.

Update (6/29): Popeye went to see if he could become a working dog but didn't make the cut. He was great at retrieving but lost interest when there wasn't an active interplay with a toy.
Trip wasn't all bad as he stayed with the officer for a couple of days and we found out some more information about him. Popeye is house and crate trained. Knows sit, come, gentle (when taking treats) He worked with him to automatically sit if he was on lead and his handles stopped walking. Met their cat, he was curious but didn't chase it. Says he is a very nice and smart dog who wants to please his owner. He said he will make someone a FANTASTIC pet with a little training..
