My name is Carter! I came to the shelter in May with my brother Roman, and I'm looking for a forever home now! I'm about 4 years old. I'm a smart boy, and if you're wondering why my ears are so big, it's because I'm a great listener! No matter what I'm doing, if you ask me to sit, I'll do it! I'm working on learning new commands, and I'm very treat motivated! I walk well on a leash, too! I'm a sweet boy who loves to play, and loves to give kisses! Come to the shelter, meet me, and make me apart of your forever family!

About Middletown Humane Society

About Our Shelter...

The Middletown Humane Society is a low/no kill privately run animal shelter located in the Town of Wallkill, serving the City of Middletown as well as surrounding communities. Our small shelter was founded in 1959, and has undergone many large and small changes throughout the years. We receive no funding and survive on adoption fees and the generosity of our donors. Our shelter is dedicated to feeding, sheltering, and loving the animals that come through our door from day one until they are adopted. These animals are treated like our family until they find families of their own!

Come Meet Our Pets...

Our animals are kept in a kennel environment where each dog has his/her own indoor/outdoor run and a Kuranda bed (donated by our supporters!) to get them off the cold, hard floor. We are open to the public 7 days a week except for major holiday, and our hours of operation are 12-4 pm. We also have an adoption event team that brings some of our adoptables to off-site events like going to Petco for a few hours to meet new people! Check out our Facebook page and website for announcement of upcoming adoptions events and more!

Our Adoption Process...

To adopt from our shelter, adopters must fill out an application, which will be considered by our managers. Our adoption fees vary depending on the animals, but most cats are $125. Dogs vary depending on a variety of conditions, such as their breed, age, and length of stay at the shelter. It is best to call the shelter directly and inquire if you have a specific pet in mind to adopt.
