My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Bear has been diagnosed with Cushing's disease and the Veterinarian believes he is 5 years old.

This is Bear (HWTH#15284A). He is a Newfoundland mix, DOB: 6/6/14. Bear weighs approximately 130 pounds (he is overweight) and stands 25 inches at the shoulders. This is a sweet boy with a sedentary lifestyle that likes to have his belly rubbed. One of the first things that his new owner will have to address is his weight and getting him to exercise so he can get back to a more reasonable size and have more energy. His owner will need to be strong to be able to cope with his strength. Bear is very loving and will be a loyal canine companion once he has bonded with his new owner. Bear is good with other dogs and is crate trained. For more information on Bear, please contact Suzanne at tele # 661-824-4495.

Bear was found in the desert covered in fox tails. He has been shaved. He also has severe ear infections which are being treated and he will not be available until they are under control. Once his ears are better he will be ready for adoption as long as the weight loss is continued. He is only a year old and has a great chance for a long life if the weight gets under control. In his current condition the desert heat would be a killer if he is outside with no way to cool off. Bear is house trained and well behaved inside. He walks slowly on a leash but not always beside you (he will learn that). He does not like a collar put on and off but is okay with a collar left on and a leash attached and unattached. He is good with other dogs, including puppies. He is good with people and kids but would need supervision with very small children because of his size.
