Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi Everybody! My name is Pebbles and I am 10 years old. I am a Black & White Shih Tzu. I was rescued by Illinois Animal Rescue because my owner couldn't take care of me. IAR rescues doggies like me but my story is a little different. See, some dogs are found in kill shelters where IAR rescues them but I came from someone's home. I'm really lucky that I did not have to go to a kill shelter but that's where my luck ended. When my foster Mom took me the vet to get evaluated, well they found out I have some health problems. Not only do I need to lose weight (don't we all!) I have Cushing’s disease. But that doesn't stop me from being a really sweet girl that loves to lay by your feet and give you kisses. The nice vet says my Cushing’s Disease is manageable with medication which I will take for the rest of my life but I don’t let that slow me down. I take my medicine in the morning. I sit really good waiting for my food because I am not food aggressive and when it comes time for my walk – for my daily exercise – I walk really well. I like other dogs & cats and I’m good with kids. I like to spend my days laying in my dog bed especially if it’s near your feet. I like to be around people so I might follow you if you get up and on nice days I like to sit outside. I hope you can see past my health issues and call my foster Mom for a Meet & Greet. We can meet, bond and then I can go to my forever home where we can be BF’s forever & ever!!! Kisses, Pebbles
Pebbles’ Cushing’s disease: When she came into our foster care we took her to our veterinarians for a Wellness Check where they discovered she has Cushing’s disease. Cushing’s disease results from an overproduction of the hormone Coritisol. Along with this manageable disease she also has 2 tumors, on her Pituitary & Adrenal Glands that are related to Cushing’s disease. Both are not operable in their professional opinion; however are livable and just need to be monitored. With treatment & daily medication Pebbles life can be prolonged, at times to a normal life span. Pebbles deserves a loving home to live out her Senior years, please give this sweet girl a chance.
Pebbles is located in her foster home in Bolingbrook. Please contact her foster Mom for more information on her Cushing’s disease and her daily medication. To fill out an adoption application, please visit our website at: www.illinoisanimalrescue.org .
