Venus's Story...
Venus is a 2 year old spayed female Lab/Shepherd mix that was rescued from a high kill shelter in South Carolina. Venus was in danger of being euthanized due to overcrowding, but our Jr. Volunteers raised enough money through their "Saving Southern Souls" project to save her and she's ready to find her new home!

Sporty and stylish, our mid-sized girl Venus flaunts a fine profile with her perky ears and bushy coiled tail. Equally spirited when she heads out on a walk, she steps out with confidence and eager anticipation of what lies ahead. She appreciates every opportunity to get out and explore her surroundings and after a bit of her gusto wears off she settles into a nice steady walking pace. Venus wound up at the shelter when her former family moved to a place that didn't allow pets. According to her previous owner she gets along with kids and with other dogs as well, although she does like to be the leading lady. Venus walked along nicely with several polite dogs, ignoring them for the most part, but she did not appreciate a more energetic, intense dog getting in her face. She enjoys interacting with humans, most especially getting her back scratched, and she will scoot close to encourage a willing person to keep up the petting.
