Margie's Story...
Margie's rescue story begins a few months ago when she was found wandering as a stray. She ended up in an animal shelter and I saw her picture on their website. I decided to visit the shelter and evaluate Margie and I am so glad I did. When I met Margie I could tell her spirit was traumatized from being in a shelter. There were a lot of dogs barking all around her and Margie's anxiousness was apparent. I took her for a walk around the shelter and she quickly calmed down. Her body seemed so relieved to have a person at her side. Margie's eyes told me so much about her and I was excited to become her foster mom. It has been such a privilege to nurse Margie to good health, both physical and emotional. This girl is an absolute treasure!!

Margie is a young girl with medium energy level. She loves to run and play with my big dogs and, even though she is on the smaller side of an average GSD female, Margie has no problem keeping up with them. She plays hard and has a spunky personality that keeps me laughing. Margie is your classic GSD in beauty, temperament, intelligence, and companionship. She will be your shadow and, with her by your side, you will never be lonely. Margie has good house manners, is crate trained, and an absolute joy to live with.

For training, I have taken Margie through some basic obedience and she is an excellent student. Margie walks loosely on a leash and, when I stop, she immediately sits in the heel position. She knows sit, down, and can go to her bed for a bed-stay. I don't mean to brag about Margie, but I can't help it. I have so enjoyed working with her. This girl LOVES people and just wants to please. Margie has a sensitive personality and responds best to positive reinforcement and gentle, but firm, corrections.

Margie still has to finish her heartworm treatment and won't be ready until the end of July. If you are willing to wait until that time to bring her home, you will not regret it. Margie is an awesome GSD and she will spoil you. Please complete an application and include her name. I look forward to introducing her to you.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Margie, a Houston German Shepherd Dog dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a German Shepherd Dog for sale in Houston, or seeking a German Shepherd Dog dog from a breeder in Houston.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Houston already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Houston breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even German Shepherd Dog breeders who help with German Shepherd Dog rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Houston paves the way for another one to be saved.
