My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Cinder. She is a 4 year old female Border Collie mix. She looks like a miniature Border collie, but we have no clue as to what she is mixed with. She weighs 27 lbs. but could stand to lose a few pounds.

Cinder does have a story. She was adopted from Riverside Shelter at 8 weeks old and returned at 4 years old with a bad eye infection stating they could no longer afford her. The shelter cleared her eyes up right away, but because she was shaking in her cage and so scared, and you can’t blame her, she was marked “rescue only” which means she was not available for adoption by the public. BCIN could not leave her behind and welcomed her into our rescue program. Her foster mom noticed right away, probably from neglect and poor nutrition, that her teeth were in bad shape for such a young dog. BCIN paid for a very expensive full dental on her and now her teeth are bright and white.

Her foster mom writes: “She is just pure love, and she hangs out with my 3 dogs. She gets along great with all dogs, but for the most part, just ignores them. I would say Cinder is Medium to low energy, she can walk/hike forever, loves to run around the dog park and chase balls. In the house you hardly know she is there as she is just a sweet mellow dog. She is house trained and crate trained, although I don’t use one for her anymore. She also walks great on a leash. When she greets you at the door, she makes the cutest little squeaky noises that will put a smile on your face every time you come home. I still have never heard her bark, even when my dogs are barking at something.

Cinder would make the best dog for any family or any person. I feel she would probably be fine with cats, when she see birds, rabbits or squirrels on our walks she doesn’t try to chase them. She has been great with kids over 10 and but hasn’t been around small children. I can’t say enough good things about this sweet dog, other than, whoever adopts her will be lucky to have her, she really is just pure love.”

If you are interested in meeting our dogs, please go on line and fill out an adoption application. We require a pre-approved application to be on file before any meet and greets are scheduled. The electronic application can be found on our website at www.bordercolliesinneed.org/border_collie_rescue_and_adoptions/adoption_application.html
