Max is not yet a DREAM dog. He is being listed as a courtesy to his Good Samaritan / foster mom, to try to keep him out of the overcrowded rescue and shelter system. If you are interested in making this sweetheart part of YOUR family, please let us know and we will put you in touch with Max's mom. .

Hi! I am guest dog Max and I am looking for a new home. I'm about 8 years old & weigh ~ 20 lbs at the moment, but on my way to a new svelte physique. My color is considered "pie-bald" and as you can see I have long hair. I am current on all my vaccines, am HW neg, have a microchip, have already made my no-puppy pledge, & am house trained / crate trained. Mom says I am a total angel. I will follow you everywhere and I'm super great around all of the other rescue dogs in my current home. I have been around children since I was a pup and know how to be gentle. I've never played with a cat before, so that's an unknown to me. I love to explore outside & go for walks. I will even go out in the rain - see my "wet" picture. I might have found a mud puddle on that adventure. Tee hee. I am nervous in new environments at first, so I need to be handled in a calm manner that allows me to build my confidence. In time, I will get better at this - I just haven't been exposed to much outside of my own home in the past. I've been through a lot of changes lately & they are all for the better. I'd really prefer a quiet home with lots of lap time as well as walks.
I do have a condition known as hypo-thyroidism - they tell me it's lower than normal, which is why I gained so much weight. (I've lost 6+ lbs already & will probably lose another 6.) My previous owners didn't know what to do for this, but my foster mom gives me just one little pill each & every day - it's super cheap & it's getting me back into tip top shape. Apparently lots of doxies have this condition & it's very easy to treat / maintain. Whew - don't I feel better?!? I also eat much healthier now too, so that's also helping my weight loss.
To make me the happiest Dachshund ever, please let DREAM know you would like to know more about me.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
