My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, My name is Eli

My vet thinks I’m a happy and healthy 2 year old Catahoula(possibly a Catahoula mix). .My favorite thing to do is have my foster mom talk to me and pet me. My second favorite thing to do is play with my foster brother Manny. He is so much fun. We love to run around the backyard. Sometimes I chase him, sometimes he chases me but most of the time we wrestle … play fight over a toy. Honestly, we don’t even need the toy. After we get bored with that we play tug-of-war. Manny is a fierce competitor but I normally win. Sometimes I let him win because I’m a nice guy.

My foster mommy is teaching me some basic commands. I learned how to sit in one day and how to lay down the next day. She says I’m a fast learner. She’s also trying to teach me how to play a game called fetch. She says I’m great at chasing the ball down, jumping on it and chewing it up but for some reason she wants me to bring it back to her. I don’t quite get that. Sometimes I’ll bring the ball back to her and other times I’ll just look at her. Why would she want me to bring something back to her that she just threw away? Sometimes she does the goofiest things!

I suppose I should tell you about my faults and quirks too. My foster mommy says my only quirk is that new people usually scare me. I’ll growl and hide behind my foster mommy. She says it’s because people have been mean to me in the past. She’s showing me that most people are good. I think she’s right but I still get scared sometimes. Once I know you’re not going to hurt me I love to be petted and will play with you. Actually, once you’re my friend, I’ll let you do just about anything to me and I’ll protect you too. You see, I make a great, loyal friend. I just need a little extra time to get to know people. My foster mommy thinks this may go away with time and patience. I hope she’s right.

Now for the boring stuff; I’m about 70 pounds, neutered, up-to-date on all my vaccinations. I’m crate trained. I only chew my toys. (… and I have a lot of toys!) I’m housebroken. My foster mommy thinks I’d be perfect for a family that doesn’t have small children because I might accidentally run into a little one and knock him/her over.

What I want most of all is a forever home with a nice family or person that I can love forever and ever. So, if you think I might make a good addition to your family please let the people at Dogworks know by filling out an application on the website at www.dogworksohio.com. There’s no cost and no obligation to fill out an application and there are some more great pictures of me. If you do decide that you would like to adopt me, my adoption fee is $165.00
